Hong Kong Baptist University has been teaching journalism since the founding of the Department of Communication in the old Baptist College in 1968. With the upgrade to university in the late 1980s, a School of Communication was planned and opened in 1993, with three departments including Journalism. We have concentrations in Chinese, English and Broadcast journalism, with about 150 undergraduates in total on the three-year course. Our graduates are to be found in senior positions in many of Hong Kong¡¦s news media, as well as related professions such as public relations and teaching. We have nine full-time academic staff in the Department who publish scholarly research in international journals, and a similar number of adjunct and part-time lecturers, most of them experienced local and international journalists. The MA in International Journalism was started by the Department in 2007.
